Technical description: All Boilers
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the internal temperature of the boiler exceeds safe limits, triggering a safety shut-off to protect the components from damage. The most common reasons include a failing pump that isn't moving water fast enough, a blockage in the heat exchanger, or a buildup of air in the system. Essentially, the heat being generated isn't being carried away from the boiler quickly enough, causing it to overheat.
This issue often surfaces when the heating is first turned on after summer, as the circulation pump can seize or become sluggish during long periods of inactivity.
