What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the water inside the heat exchanger reaches a dangerously high temperature, triggering a safety shut-off to protect the internal components. The most common reason is a lack of water flow, often caused by a failing pump or an air lock trapped within the system. It can also happen if there is a severe blockage, such as heavy sludge, preventing the heat from being carried away to your radiators.
This fault is frequently seen the first time the heating is turned on after summer, as the internal pump can seize up during long periods of inactivity.
DIY fix possible
Wait for the boiler to cool down completely.Check all radiator valves are open and bleed any air from the radiators.Check that your system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Press and hold the Reset button for five seconds.
