Your boiler has detected an issue with the fan that safely removes exhaust gases, meaning it has shut down for safety and will not provide heating or hot water.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Fan fault
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control system loses communication with the fan or detects that it is spinning at the wrong speed. The most common reason is a mechanical failure within the fan motor itself, though loose electrical connections or a fault on the main circuit board can also prevent the fan from starting.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
