Your boiler has failed to light the flame, which means you will not have any heating or hot water until the issue is resolved.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Ignition error – possible electrode fault or power too low, no gas or excessive condensate level
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler tries to start up but cannot detect a stable flame after several attempts. The most common reasons are a disruption in the gas supply, a worn-out component that creates the spark, or a build-up of moisture and debris blocking the drainage system.
This fault is more common during freezing winter temperatures, as the external condensate pipe can freeze and cause the boiler to shut down for safety.
DIY fix possible
Check that your gas pre-payment meter has creditEnsure your external gas emergency control valve is turned onPress the 'Reset' button on the boiler control panel for 1 secondCheck that the white plastic condensate pipe outside has not frozen in cold weather
