Your boiler has detected a problem with the internal fan, meaning it cannot safely vent exhaust gases and has stopped working for your safety.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Fan problem – tachometer signal interrupted fan connection. Fan damaged or debris in fan – check the wiring, the fan and clean debris
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control board loses communication with the fan or detects that it isn't spinning at the correct speed. The most common reasons are a build-up of dust and debris physically slowing the blades, a loose electrical connection, or an internal motor failure. Because the fan is responsible for removing dangerous exhaust gases, the boiler will automatically shut down as a safety precaution.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
