C High Lockout

Your boiler has detected a mechanical issue with the gas control valve, meaning it cannot safely ignite to provide heating or hot water.

Call an engineer soon

Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.

Technical description: Faulty magnet unit in gas valve. Replace.

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the internal electromagnetic component responsible for opening the gas supply fails to engage properly. Over time, the internal coil within the gas valve can burn out or become stuck, preventing the boiler from receiving the fuel it needs to light. Because the boiler can no longer verify that the gas flow is safe, it shuts down entirely to prevent a potential hazard.

Typical repair cost £220-£380 (including labour)

Engineer required
