Your boiler's pump is running longer than it should after the heating has switched off because it is detecting trapped heat or a circulation issue.
This fault should be looked at by a Gas Safe engineer within the next week or two. It may get worse if left.
Technical description: Central heating pump overrun.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler is struggling to shed excess heat after it has stopped firing, causing the pump to run continuously to protect the internal components. The most common reasons are a failing pump that isn't moving water fast enough, a buildup of sludge blocking the heat exchanger, or a faulty sensor incorrectly reporting high temperatures.
This issue often surfaces in autumn when the heating is turned on for the first time after summer, as pumps can seize or stick during long periods of inactivity.
DIY fix possible
Check that at least one radiator valve (usually the one in the hall) is fully open to allow water to circulate.Ensure your system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 bar on the pressure gauge.Gently bleed your radiators to remove any trapped air that might be blocking water flow.
