Your boiler is taking a short, programmed break to prevent it from turning on and off too frequently, which helps save energy and protect its internal parts.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Anti cycling period
What causes this fault?
This occurs when the boiler has reached its target temperature very quickly and needs to pause before firing up again. It is often triggered because the heat has nowhere to go, usually because your radiators are already hot or the room thermostat has been satisfied. By waiting a few minutes, the boiler prevents unnecessary wear and tear caused by 'short-cycling'.
This status is most frequently seen during spring and autumn when the weather is mild and the house requires only small, infrequent bursts of heat.
DIY fix possible
Wait 5 to 15 minutes for the timer to finishEnsure your thermostat is set to a temperature higher than the current room temperatureCheck that at least one radiator valve is fully open to allow heat to dissipate
