Your boiler appears to have no power at all, meaning the control panel won't light up and the heating and hot water will not work.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Is not illuminated: Check for 230 Vac at the bottom connections of the off/on switch, check switch continuity, check 230 Vac at connector Y2, check fuse continuity, or check 14 Vdc between pin 3 at connector TA and J5.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the electrical circuit within the boiler is broken, preventing power from reaching the control system. The most common reason is a blown internal fuse caused by a sudden power surge or a failing electrical component like the pump. It can also be caused by a mechanical failure of the main power switch or a fault in the wiring board itself.
This issue is slightly more common during the winter months when the boiler is under high load and electrical components are more likely to fail under constant use.
DIY fix possible
Ensure the main electrical isolation switch (fused spur) near the boiler is turned on.Check your home's consumer unit (fuse box) to see if a circuit breaker has tripped.Try replacing the 3-amp fuse in the external boiler switch with a new one.
