Your boiler has stopped working because the internal computer cannot confirm that the fan is spinning at the correct speed to safely clear away exhaust fumes.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: No tacho from fan
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler’s control board sends power to the fan but does not receive a signal back confirming that it is actually spinning. The most common reason is that the fan motor has seized or burnt out, though it can also be caused by loose electrical connections or a fault on the main circuit board itself.
This issue can be more frequent during the first cold spell of autumn, as fan bearings may seize up after being inactive throughout the summer months.
