Your boiler is failing to light the gas flame despite several attempts, which means your heating and hot water will not work.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: No ignition after restart – check gas supply, gas valve operation and ignitor electrode spark generation
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's internal computer tries to start the combustion process but cannot detect a sustained flame. The most common reasons are a lack of gas reaching the unit, a worn-out sparking electrode that can't provide a light, or a faulty gas valve that isn't opening properly.
This issue is more frequent during extreme cold spells, as external gas meters can sometimes freeze or pressure can drop when local demand is at its peak.
