Your boiler is taking a short, five-minute break to protect itself from overworking and will restart automatically.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Boiler restart delayed to prevent rapid cycling (Max. delay time is 5 min)
What causes this fault?
This code appears when the boiler's internal thermometer detects that the water has reached its target temperature too quickly after firing up. To prevent the components from wearing out due to turning on and off too frequently, the system pauses for five minutes to let the water circulate and cool slightly. It is usually caused by the heating system reaching its set temperature or a slight Restriction in water flow.
This is more common during the milder months of spring and autumn when the house requires less heat and the radiators reach their maximum temperature very quickly.
DIY fix possible
Wait 5 to 10 minutes for the countdown to finishEnsure radiators are turned up to allow heat to circulateCheck that the room thermostat is set higher than the current room temperature
