Your boiler has temporarily paused its operation to prevent the system from turning on and off too quickly, which protects the internal components from unnecessary wear.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Boiler restart delayed to prevent rapid cycling. (Max. delay time is 5 mm)
What causes this fault?
This status occurs when the boiler reaches its target temperature too quickly, causing it to pause briefly to protect the internal parts. It is often triggered when the heat produced by the boiler cannot be moved away fast enough, usually because too many radiators are turned off or the system is already very warm. This prevents 'short cycling,' which would otherwise waste energy and put unnecessary strain on the burner.
This is more common during the autumn and spring when the weather is milder and your home requires less heat to stay comfortable.
