Your boiler has tried to light but cannot detect a flame, which means it has locked itself out for safety.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Ignition failure (flame not sensed)
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler fails to light successfully after several attempts, causing the system to shut down for your safety. The most common reason is that the electrodes are worn out and can no longer produce a spark or detect the heat from the flame, though it can also be caused by a lack of gas reaching the unit.
This fault is more common during the first cold snap of autumn when a boiler that has been idle all summer is suddenly forced to work at full capacity, often exposing worn-out ignition components.
