Your boiler is starting up but failing to detect that the flame has successfully lit, causing it to shut down for safety.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Go to section 'I'.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's internal sensors fail to confirm that a flame is present after the ignition sequence begins. The most common reason is a worn-out or carbon-coated sensing electrode that can no longer 'see' the flame, or a fault within the control board that prevents it from processing the signal. Because the boiler cannot confirm it is burning gas safely, it shuts down to prevent unburnt gas from building up.
