Your boiler has temporarily paused because the water inside has become slightly hotter than the temperature it was told to reach.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Normal control stop during HTG (flow temperature > set point + 5 °C)
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the water leaving the boiler gets hotter than the temperature you have set on your thermostat or dials. It most often happens because the water isn't moving through the system fast enough to carry the heat away, usually due to a pump that is slowing down or a buildup of sludge blocking the pipes.
This issue often appears during the transition to autumn when heating systems are first turned back on after being idle all summer.
DIY fix possible
Check that at least two or three radiator valves are fully open to allow heat to escape.Ensure the pump is not making grinding noises and appears to be running.Reset the boiler to see if the operation resumes normally.
