4 High Lockout

Your boiler is currently focused on providing hot water rather than heating, but a component like a valve or pump is likely stuck, preventing the system from finishing its job.

Call an engineer soon

Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.

Technical description: DHW mode: the three way valve or DHW pump activated (Broag priority only)

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler becomes stuck in 'hot water mode' and cannot switch back to providing central heating. The most common reason is a mechanical failure in the diverter valve or the dedicated hot water pump, which prevents the system from diverting flow to your radiators after the hot water tank is satisfied.

This issue is often noticed during the first cold spell of autumn, when homeowners turn their heating on for the first time and find the boiler is unresponsive despite providing hot water all summer.

Typical repair cost £180-350 (including labour)
