Your boiler is temporarily pausing because it has reached its target temperature or is waiting for a signal to restart.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Boiler in waiting mode
What causes this fault?
Code 5 occurs when the boiler has successfully heated the water to the requested temperature and is momentarily resting to prevent overheating. It can also appear if the external thermostat has reached its target and told the boiler to stop firing, or if the system is waiting through a short anti-cycle delay before restarting. Essentially, the boiler is 'on pause' and waiting for the system temperature to drop enough to require heat again.
DIY fix possible
Check that your room thermostat is turned up higher than the current room temperatureEnsure your programmer or heating timer is set to 'On'Wait 5-10 minutes to see if the boiler restarts automatically once the system cools slightly
