Your boiler has detected very cold temperatures and is running the pump continuously to prevent the internal pipes from freezing.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Pump continuous circulation (recognises danger of freezing)
What causes this fault?
This code is triggered when the boiler's internal temperature sensors detect that the water temperature has dropped below a safe threshold, usually around 7°C. To prevent the heat exchanger from freezing and cracking, the boiler automatically runs the pump to keep water moving through the system. This is a protective measure rather than a mechanical breakdown, often caused by the boiler being located in a cold garage or loft without adequate insulation.
This fault is almost exclusively seen during the winter months when external temperatures drop low enough to impact the boiler's internal pipework.
DIY fix possible
Check that the room thermostat and radiator valves are turned up to allow heat to circulate.Ensure the condensate pipe (the plastic pipe leading outside) is not frozen or blocked with ice.If the weather is extremely cold, wait for the outside temperature to rise for the code to clear automatically.
