Your boiler has detected an issue with the sensor that monitors the temperature of the exhaust gases, causing the system to shut down for safety.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Flue gas temperature sensor error (short circuit or open circuit)
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the internal safety system loses a reliable signal from the sensor that monitors the heat of the gases leaving your flue. It is typically caused by the sensor burning out over time or a loose connection in the wiring, which prevents the boiler from confirming it is operating at a safe temperature. Because the boiler cannot guarantee it won't overheat, it shuts down immediately to protect the internal components.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
