Your boiler has failed to ignite, meaning it cannot light the gas to start heating your water.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Ignition
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to start up but cannot successfully establish or detect a flame. The most common reasons include a blockage in the gas supply, a worn-out spark plug that can no longer ignite the fuel, or a dirty sensor that fails to tell the boiler the fire is actually lit.
This issue can be more frequent during the first cold snap of autumn when internal components that have been idle all summer suddenly fail under the strain of continuous use.
