Your boiler's fan is not spinning at the correct speed, which prevents the unit from venting fumes safely and stops it from firing up.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Fan speed offset
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control board detects that the fan is either spinning too slowly or at an inconsistent speed compared to what is required. The most common reason is a build-up of dirt or debris in the fan's bearings, though it can also be caused by an electrical failure in the fan motor itself or the wiring connecting it to the main board.
This fault can be more frequent during the first cold snap of autumn when a boiler that has been idle over summer is suddenly forced to operate at high speeds.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
