Your boiler is unable to start the flame because the internal spark plug that ignites the gas is disconnected or faulty.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Ignition electrode fault
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control system cannot detect a connection to the spark plug that light the burner. The most common reason is that the thin electrical wire connecting the ignition system has become loose, damaged, or corroded over time. In some cases, the electrode itself may have worn out or cracked, preventing it from generating the spark needed to start the heating.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
