Your boiler's internal computer has encountered a critical electronic failure and can no longer control the heating process safely.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Electronic fault | Electronics defect
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's main control board suffers an internal electrical failure, meaning it can no longer communicate with the gas valve or sensors. It is usually caused by aging electrical components reaching the end of their lifespan or a sudden power surge that damages the delicate circuitry. Because the 'brain' of the boiler is compromised, it shuts down immediately as a safety precaution.
This fault is slightly more common during the autumn and winter months when the boiler is first switched back on after a long period of inactivity, which can stress older electronic components.
