Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the system has dropped too low and needs to be topped up.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: The system requires to be re-pressurised
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the internal water pressure drops below the minimum level required for the boiler to operate safely. The most common reasons are a slow leak from a radiator valve or pipework, or the air being released from the system through the radiators.
This issue often appears when the heating is first turned on in autumn, as the expansion of water during the first few cycles can highlight existing pressure losses.
DIY fix possible
Locate the filling loop (a flexible silver hose) underneath or near the boiler.Slowly open the small valve(s) on the hose until you hear water entering the system.Watch the pressure gauge and close the valves tightly once it reaches between 1 and 1.5 bar.
