Your boiler is unable to light the gas or cannot tell that the flame is lit, so it has shut down for safety.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: burner has failed to ignite or the flame supervisione system has failed to detect a flame
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler tries to start but fails to create or maintain a steady flame. It is usually caused by a lack of gas reaching the burner, a worn-out spark plug that cannot ignite the fuel, or a dirty sensor that fails to 'see' the flame even when it is lit. In some cases, a fault with the main control board means the boiler doesn't send the signal to start the ignition process at all.
This fault is more common during the first cold snap of winter, as gas valves can occasionally stick after being inactive during the summer months.
DIY fix possible
