Your boiler has failed to light, which is often caused by a blocked condensation pipe or an issue with the ignition system.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Ignition failure/not flame sensed, condense sensor activated
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler tries to light but fails to detect a flame, causing the system to shut down for safety. The most common cause is a blockage in the condensation pipe or a build-up of debris in the trap, but it can also be triggered by worn ignition parts or an interrupted gas supply.
This fault is more common during freezing winter temperatures, as the external condensate pipe can freeze and cause a backup that prevents the boiler from firing.
DIY fix possible
Check if your gas supply is turned on and other gas appliances are working. If it is freezing outside, check if the plastic condensation pipe leading outdoors is frozen and thaw it with warm water.Press the Reset button on the control panel to see if the boiler restarts.
