Your boiler is currently performing a routine self-cleaning process to clear air or debris from the system and is not actually experiencing a fault.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Purging
What causes this fault?
This occurs when the boiler detects air bubbles or minor debris within the internal pipework or heat exchanger. To protect the system, the boiler initiates an automatic circulation sequence to flush these pockets out through the air vent. It is a standard maintenance function designed to ensure the pump and burner continue to operate quietly and efficiently.
This is more common in autumn when the heating is first switched back on after summer, as air often settles in the system during periods of inactivity.
DIY fix possible
Wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the purging cycle to complete automatically.Ensure your radiator valves are open to help the system circulate.Check that the system pressure is between 1 and 1.5 bar on the pressure gauge.
