Your boiler has identified a problem with-the-fan-that-takes exhaust fumes away, meaning it cannot start safely.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Fan operation
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler's control board detects that the fan is not spinning at the correct speed or has failed to start entirely. The most common reasons are a build-up of debris blocking the fan blades, a loose electrical connection, or the internal motor of the fan burning out over time.
This fault can be more frequent in autumn and winter, as heavy winds can occasionally cause back-pressure in the flue that interferes with the fan's operation.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
