Your boiler has failed to light, which most likely means the gas supply is interrupted or there is a blockage preventing the burner from starting.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Flame not detected.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to ignite several times but fails to detect a flame, causing the system to shut down for safety. The most common reasons include a lack of gas reaching the burner, worn-out spark electrodes, or a buildup of carbon on the sensor that 'sees' the flame.
This fault is frequently seen during extreme cold snaps, as the external condensate pipe can freeze and back up, preventing the boiler from lighting.
DIY fix possible
Check if your gas meter has credit or if other gas appliances in the house are working. If it is freezing outside, check if the white plastic condensate pipe leading outdoors is frozen and thaw it with warm water.Press the Reset button on the boiler for five seconds to see if it restarts.
