Technical description: Replace with new conversion code plug (11). e.g. code plug number 460 or 461

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the small memory chip, known as a code plug, becomes loose or develops an internal electrical failure. Without this chip, the boiler's main control board loses its specific 'identity' and forgets the settings required to operate your heating safely. The most common reason is vibrational wear over many years or a power surge that has corrupted the chip's internal data.

Typical repair cost £120-£210 (including labour)

Engineer required

This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
