Technical description: No ionisation current
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler fails to detect a flame after several attempts to light. The most common reasons include a lack of gas supply to the unit, a blocked burner, or electrodes that have become worn or dirty over time. It can also be caused by a problem with the internal components that monitor the combustion process.
This fault is more common during extreme cold snaps, as a frozen condensate pipe can back up and prevent the boiler from igniting successfully.
DIY fix possible
Check if other gas appliances in your home (like a hob) are working to ensure gas is reaching the property. If it is freezing outside, check if your white plastic condensate pipe is frozen and gently thaw it with warm water.Press the reset button for five seconds to see if the boiler restarts.
