Your boiler has run out of fuel or the oil cannot flow from the storage tank to the burner.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: No oil at pump
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the burner's pump is unable to draw fuel from the oil line, leading to an immediate shutdown to protect the components. The most common reasons are an empty storage tank, a closed supply valve, or a blockage caused by air or debris within the oil filters and pipework.
This fault often occurs during the first cold snap of autumn when homeowners realize they have run out of fuel or when thickening oil (waxing) restricts flow during extreme winter freezes.
DIY fix possible
Check the fuel level in your oil storage tank to ensures it is not emptyEnsure the oil supply valve on the tank or the fire valve is fully openCheck for any visible kinks or leaks in the oil supply pipework
