Your boiler has failed to light and has shut itself down for safety because it cannot detect a gas supply or a flame.
Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24–48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.
Technical description: Appliance does not ignite. No gas supply.
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the boiler attempts to start up but cannot establish a stable flame to provide heat. The most common reasons are a lack of gas reaching the appliance, worn-out spark electrodes failing to ignite the gas, or a sensor being unable to detect that a flame is present. Without proof of a flame, the boiler shuts down as a safety precaution to prevent unburnt gas from building up.
This issue is more common during the first cold snap of autumn when internal components that have been idle all summer suddenly fail under the strain of regular use.
