A Flashing

Your boiler is struggling to accurately read its own internal water temperature, which means it has safely shut down to prevent overheating.

High Engineer only £120-180

Parts commonly replaced

  • NTC Sensor
  • Wiring harness
B Flashing

Your boiler has detected that it is running too hot and has automatically shut itself down to prevent damage.

High Engineer only £120-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • Overheat thermostat
  • Central heating pump
  • Diverter valve
  • Primary heat exchanger
B Illuminated continuously

Your boiler has attempted to start several times but has been unable to successfully ignite its internal flame.

High Engineer only £120-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • Ignition electrode
  • Gas valve
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
E01

Your boiler is failing to light because it cannot detect a flame, meaning you currently have no heating or hot water.

High Engineer only £150-300

Parts commonly replaced

  • Ignition electrode
  • Gas valve
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB)

E02

Your boiler has detected that it is running too hot and has automatically shut itself down to prevent damage.

High Engineer only £120-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • Pump
  • Diverter valve
  • Primary heat exchanger
  • Limit thermostat

Related codes

E03

Your boiler has detected an issue with the ventilation system that clears away exhaust gases, so it has shut itself down to keep your home safe.

Emergency Engineer only £120-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • Flue pressure switch
  • Air pressure switch tubing
  • Fan assembly
  • Flue thermostat
E05

Your boiler's temperature sensor is faulty, which means the system cannot accurately read how hot the water is and has stopped working as a safety precaution.

High Engineer only £120-200

Parts commonly replaced

  • NTC Temperature Sensor
  • Wiring Harness

Related codes

E06

Your boiler has lost the ability to accurately measure the temperature of the hot water it produces, so it has turned off the hot tap function to prevent overheating.

Medium Engineer only £120-200

Parts commonly replaced

  • DHW NTC Sensor

Related codes

E10

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the system has dropped too low to operate safely.

High DIY-safe £80-120

What to check first

  1. Locate the external filling loop, which is usually a flexible silver hose connected between two pipes under the boiler.
  2. Open the small valve(s) on the loop to allow water into the system while watching the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler.
  3. Close the valve(s) once the needle reaches the green zone, typically between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.

Parts commonly replaced

  • Filling loop
  • Pressure relief valve
  • Pressure sensor
E16

Your boiler has detected that the internal fan is not operating correctly, which prevents it from safely venting gases, so it has shut down to protect your home.

High Engineer only £180-350

Parts commonly replaced

  • Fan assembly
  • Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
  • Wiring harness

Related codes

E24

Your boiler is struggling because it detects a confusing difference in temperature between the water leaving the unit and the water returning to it, so it has shut down to prevent damage.

High Engineer only £150-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • NTC sensors
  • Pump
  • Primary heat exchanger

Related codes

E31

Your boiler has lost its digital connection to the wall-mounted thermostat or controller, preventing it from receiving instructions to start heating.

Medium Engineer only £120-250

Parts commonly replaced

  • PCB
  • Wiring harness
  • External thermostat
