Common problems guide

The most common Baxi Bermuda problems

The faults most likely to send a Baxi Bermuda into lockout — with plain-English causes, what to check first, estimated repair costs and whether you need a Gas Safe engineer.

This model is discontinued. Parts can be harder to source and expensive. If repair costs are mounting, a new A-rated boiler may be the smarter choice.

The 6 most common faults

01
E110 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has shut down because it has detected it is getting too hot, usually due to a lack of water flow or a circulation problem.

What to try first

Check that your system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 barEnsure all radiator valves are fully openAllow the boiler to cool down and press the 'Reset' button

Est. cost
£100-£350
Parts
Overheat Thermostat, Circulation Pump, Temperature Sensor (NTC)

02
E119 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure is too low for the system to run safely.

What to try first

Locate the filling loop, which is usually a flexible silver hose with two small taps.Slowly open both taps to let fresh water into the system until the pressure gauge reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Close both taps tightly and press the reset button on the boiler control panel.

Est. cost
£0-160
Parts
Water pressure switch, Filling loop valve, Expansion vessel
Full guide for E119
03
E125 High DIY-safe

Your boiler is struggling to move water around the system correctly, which is causing it to shut down to prevent overheating.

What to try first

Check that your system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 barEnsure all radiator valves are fully openBleed your radiators to remove any trapped air pockets

Est. cost
£180-350
Parts
Circulation pump, System diverter valve, Flow temperature sensor
Full guide for E125
04
E133 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has failed to light because it either cannot get enough gas or cannot detect that the flame has started.

What to try first

Check that your gas emergency control valve and any appliance isolation valves are fully open.If you have a pre-payment meter, ensure you have sufficient credit and the meter hasn't 'locked out'.Press the reset button on the fascia for five seconds to see if the boiler restarts.

Est. cost
£100-£350
Parts
Ignition Electrode, Gas Valve, Printed Circuit Board (PCB)
Full guide for E133
05
E193 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has detected that water is not circulating properly before the burner ignites, which may be caused by an air lock or a blockage.

What to try first

Check that all radiator valves are fully openBleed your radiators to remove any trapped airEnsure the system pressure is between 1.0 and 1.5 bar on the gauge

Est. cost
£120-350
Parts
Circulation pump, Flow temperature sensor, Automatic air vent
Full guide for E193
06
110 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has become too hot and has shut down as a safety precaution to prevent damage.

What to try first

Turn off the boiler and allow it to cool down completelyCheck all radiator valves are open and bleed any trapped air from your radiatorsCheck the system pressure gauge and top up to 1.5 bar if it is lowPress the reset button on the boiler control panel

Est. cost
£80-250
Parts

Call a Gas Safe engineer if…

  • You can smell gas or see signs of a leak
  • The Baxi shows an Emergency or High severity code
  • The boiler keeps locking out after repeated resets
  • You've tried the DIY checks and the fault hasn't cleared
  • There's visible water leaking from the boiler
  • The flame is yellow or orange instead of blue
