What causes the Baxi E.01 – .04 fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler’s control system detects that the flame has gone out unexpectedly five times within a 24-hour period. It is usually caused by a component failing to accurately sense the flame, a blockage in the drainage system, or an inconsistent flow of gas prevented the burner from staying lit.

This fault is more frequent during freezing winter spells, as a frozen external condensate pipe can cause water to back up into the boiler and extinguish the flame.

Typical repair cost £100-350 (including labour)

DIY fix possible

Check that your gas emergency control valve is open and any pre-paid gas meter has credit.Verify if other gas appliances, like a hob, are working to rule out a wider gas supply issue.Restart the boiler by turning the selector switch to the 'Reset' position for five seconds.
