Common problems guide

The most common Baxi Duo-tec Combi ErP problems

The faults most likely to send a Baxi Duo-tec Combi ErP into lockout — with plain-English causes, what to check first, estimated repair costs and whether you need a Gas Safe engineer.

This model is discontinued. Parts can be harder to source and expensive. If repair costs are mounting, a new A-rated boiler may be the smarter choice.

The 6 most common faults

01
E119 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the system has dropped too low to operate safely.

What to try first

Locate the external filling loop, which is usually a flexible silver hose connected to two valves beneath the boiler.Open the valves slowly to allow cold mains water into the system while watching the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler.Stop filling once the needle reaches the green zone, typically between 1.0 and 1.5 bar, then securely close both valves.

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Pressure Relief Valve, Pressure Gauge, Expansion Vessel

02
119 High DIY-safe

Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.

What to try first

Locate the external filling loop, which is usually a small silver braided hose connecting two pipes under the boilerOpen the valves at both ends of the hose to allow mains water into the heating systemWatch the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler until the needle reaches the green zone (typically between 1.0 and 1.5 bar)Close both valves tightly and remove or disconnect the filling loop if required

Est. cost
£80-150
Parts
Pressure Relief Valve (PRV), Expansion Vessel, Pressure Sensor

03
E20 High Engineer

Your boiler has lost the ability to accurately measure the temperature of the water circulating to your radiators, so it has shut down as a precaution.

Est. cost
£120-200
Parts
Central Heating NTC Sensor, Wiring harness
Full guide for E20
04
E28 High Engineer

Your boiler is struggling to clear exhaust gases safely and has turned itself off to prevent a potential hazard.

Est. cost
£120-250
Parts
Flue sensor (NTC), Air pressure switch, Condensate trap
Full guide for E28
05
E50 High Engineer

Your boiler is currently unable to sense the temperature of your hot water properly, which means it has stopped heating your water to prevent it from getting too hot.

Est. cost
£120-200
Parts
Domestic Hot Water (DHW) NTC Thermistor, Wiring harness
Full guide for E50
06
E110 High Engineer
