Ideal anticycle Fault Code

Also written as ANTICYCLE — same fault.

The Ideal anticycle fault code means: your boiler has reached its target temperature and is taking a short, two-minute break to prevent components from wearing out by switching on and off too frequently.. It appears on 1 Ideal model in our database.

Monitor it

This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.

Technical description: When the low rate gas valve is de-energised as the temperature required has been obtained the boiler will go into an anticycle route for 2 minutes

What causes the Ideal anticycle fault?

This status occurs when the boiler water has reached the desired temperature, signaling the burners to turn off while the pump continues to circulate heat. To protect the internal components, the boiler enters a short rest period to prevent the system from rapidly 'short-cycling' on and off. Once this two-minute cooling window has passed, the boiler will automatically fire up again if the thermostat is still calling for heat.

This is more frequent during autumn and spring when the weather is milder, as rooms reach their target temperatures more quickly than in the peak of winter.

DIY fix possible

Wait 2 to 3 minutes for the timer to count downCheck that your room thermostat is set to the desired temperatureEnsure radiators are turned on to allow heat to move away from the boiler
