Technical description: Inverter High Current

What causes the Ideal L1E fault?

This fault occurs when the brain of the heat pump detects a sudden electrical spike or excessive strain on the internal motor. This is usually triggered by a faulty control board sending the wrong signal or the compressor drawing too much power because it is struggling to start. In some cases, a loose electrical connection or moisture on the wiring can also cause this safety shut-down.

This fault can be more frequent during extreme heatwaves or cold snaps, when the system has to work at its maximum capacity for long periods, putting more stress on the electrical components.

Typical repair cost £350-£900 (including labour)
