Technical description: Low Pressure Error

What causes the Ideal Low Pressure Error fault?

This fault occurs when the water pressure inside your heating system drops below the minimum level required for the boiler to pump heat around your home. The most common reasons for this are a leak somewhere in your radiators or pipework, or recent maintenance where air was bled from the system without topping the water back up.

This issue is frequently seen in autumn when homeowners turn their heating back on for the first time and find that pressure has naturally seeped out over the summer months.

Typical repair cost £0-120 (including labour)

DIY fix possible

Locate the filling loop (a flexible silver hose) underneath or near the boiler.Open the one or two taps on the loop slowly until you hear water flowing.Watch the pressure gauge until it reaches 1.5 bar, then close the taps tightly.Press the Reset button on the boiler display to clear the error.
