Your boiler is briefly turning on to keep internal water warm so that your hot water arrives at the tap faster.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Boiler fires occasionally for approx. 2 minutes. This is a normal function of the boiler (when the pre-heat switch is in the on position) to periodically pre heat the plate heat exchanger.
What causes this fault?
This is not actually a fault, but the boiler's 'pre-heat' function in operation. It occurs because the boiler is programmed to periodically heat the internal heat exchanger so that hot water reaches your taps more quickly when you turn them on.
This function may be more noticeable in winter when incoming mains water is much colder, causing the boiler to fire more frequently to maintain its internal temperature.
DIY fix possible
Locate the pre-heat switch or dial on the front control panel. If you want to stop this occasional firing to save energy, turn the pre-heat function to the 'Off' position. No further action is required as this is a normal operational feature.
