What causes this fault?

This code appears when the boiler detects that it needs to purge trapped air from within the heat exchanger or pipework to ensure efficient operation. It is often triggered automatically after the system has been refilled or if internal sensors detect air bubbles that could lead to overheating. The boiler isn't broken; it is simply performing a routine maintenance cycle to protect its internal components.

This is more common in autumn when homeowners first bleed their radiators or top up the system pressure ahead of the heating season.

DIY fix possible

Wait approximately 5 to 7 minutes for the automatic venting process to complete.Ensure the boiler pressure gauge is between 1 and 1.5 bar.The boiler will restart its normal heating and hot water functions automatically once finished.
