Your boiler's ignition button hasn't been pushed in far enough or held long enough to start the pilot light.
This is a minor fault. Keep an eye on it and mention it at your next annual boiler service. Reset the boiler and see if it clears.
Technical description: Control button not pressed fully down.
What causes this fault?
This issue occurs when the manual ignition sequence is interrupted before the pilot light has had a chance to stabilise. It is usually caused by the user not applying enough pressure to the control dial or releasing it too quickly before the thermocouple has heated up sufficiently to hold the gas valve open.
This is more common in autumn when homeowners first try to relight their pilot light after turning the boiler off for the summer.
DIY fix possible
Locate the gas control knob or button on the front of the boiler.Press the button down firmly and fully to ensure it makes complete contact.Hold the button down for approximately 20 seconds after the pilot light ignites to ensure the safety sensor stays active.
