Technical description: Flame Failure
What causes this fault?
This fault occur when the boiler tries to light but cannot confirm that a stable flame has been established. It is most commonly caused by a worn-out ignition lead that can no longer create a spark, or debris buildup on the sensor that detects the heat of the flame. In some cases, it may also indicate that the gas supply is restricted or the internal valve is failing to open.
This fault often appears during the first cold snap of winter when the boiler is under increased strain after being inactive over the summer months.
