Technical description
Control mode - Solar: Collector temperature sensor shorted out
What causes this fault?
This fault occurs when the electrical signal from the roof-mounted solar sensor is interrupted or distorted, usually due to a physical break in the cable or water ingress into the sensor housing. Over time, exposure to extreme roof temperatures and UV light can cause the protective wiring to degrade or the internal sensor component to fail entirely.
This fault is more common following a heatwave or a severe storm, as extreme high temperatures can degrade the sensor while heavy rain can enter damaged wiring connections.
Engineer required
This fault requires a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
