The 6 most common faults
Your boiler is unable to drain away the water it naturally creates while running, so it has stopped working to prevent internal damage.
Locate the white plastic condensate pipe running from the bottom of your boiler to an outside drain.Check the external end of the pipe for blockages like ice, debris, or vegetation. If frozen, pour warm (not boiling) water over the external pipe to melt the obstruction.
Your boiler has detected that the water pressure in your heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.
Locate the external filling loop, usually found underneath the boiler.Open the small valve or tap to allow water to enter the system until the pressure gauge reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Ensure the valve is turned firmly off once the correct pressure is reached.
Your boiler has detected that the water pressure inside your heating system is too low to operate safely, so it has shut down to protect itself.
Locate the filling loop (a flexible metal or silver braided hose) underneath the boiler.Open the valves at both ends of the loop to allow water into the system until the pressure gauge reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Firmly close both valves and check for any leaks.
Your boiler has detected that it is running too hot and has automatically shut itself down to prevent damage.
Full guide for A40Your boiler's sensor is struggling to accurately detect the water pressure inside the system, which causes it to stop working to protect itself from potential damage.
Full guide for A60Your boiler is having trouble detecting the temperature of the water used for your taps and shower, so it has stopped providing hot water to prevent overheating.
