The 6 most common faults
Your boiler has failed to ignite and cannot produce heat, which could be due to a gas supply issue, a blocked exhaust pipe, or an electrical wiring error.
Check if other gas appliances, like a hob, are working to confirm your gas supply is active.Ensure your gas meter has credit and the handle is in the 'on' position.Visually check the outside flue pipe for any obvious obstructions like bird nests or debris.Try resetting the boiler by turning the control knob to the 'Reset' position let it sit for a few seconds.
Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.
Locate the external filling loop, which is usually a silver braided hose connecting two pipes beneath the boiler.Open the valves at both ends of the hose to allow mains water into the system.Watch the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler and close the valves once the needle reaches between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.
Your boiler has stopped working because the water pressure inside the heating system has dropped too low to operate safely.
Locate the external filling loop, which is usually a flexible silver braided hose with one or two valves located underneath the boiler.Open the valves slowly to allow mains water into the system until the pressure gauge on the front of the boiler reads between 1.0 and 1.5 bar.Close the valves tightly to stop the flow and ensure no water is leaking from the connection.
Your boiler has shut down because the internal water has become too hot or isn't circulating through the system quickly enough.
Ensure all radiator valves (TRVs) are turned to the maximum settingCheck that the central heating valves underneath the boiler are fully openCheck the system pressure gauge and top up to 1.5 bar if it is lowTurn the boiler off and back on to attempt a reset
Your boiler has failed to start because it cannot detect a flame, likely due to a build-up of water or debris in the unit's drainage system.

Based on parts cited in our fault code database. Your engineer will confirm what's actually needed after diagnosis.
Call a Gas Safe engineer if…
- You can smell gas or see signs of a leak
- The Vokera shows an Emergency or High severity code
- The boiler keeps locking out after repeated resets
- You've tried the DIY checks and the fault hasn't cleared
- There's visible water leaking from the boiler
- The flame is yellow or orange instead of blue
