Technical description

Flow temperature sensor shorted

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the sensor responsible for measuring the heat of the water leaving the boiler fails or loses its electrical connection. The most common reason is that the sensor's internal components have worn out over time or a wire has become loose, leading to a 'short' that prevents the boiler from safely monitoring its own temperature. Because the boiler no longer knows how hot the water is, it shuts down to prevent the system from overheating.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
