High Lockout
F0238 on Worcester Bosch GB162

Your boiler's internal computer memory chip has developed a fault, preventing the system from identifying itself and operating safely.

Call an engineer soon

Book a Gas Safe engineer within 24 to 48 hours. Your boiler may be unsafe or could break down completely if left.

Technical description

The burner control unit KIM (boiler identification module) is faulty

What causes this fault?

This fault occurs when the boiler's main computer loses communication with its internal identity chip, which stores the specific settings for your model. The most common reason is an electrical failure within the plug-in memory module or a malfunction on the main circuit board that prevents it from reading the necessary data. Without this connection, the boiler shuts down because it no longer knows its own safety limits or operating parameters.

Engineer required

This is a high severity fault. Stop using the boiler and call a Gas Safe registered engineer. Do not attempt gas-related repairs yourself.
